North End Tacoma

Then

Land developer, Allen C. Mason influenced many of the high-end plots of North Tacoma, famously promoting that his developments would all have a view of the water. Mason elevated what living in North Tacoma meant, owners had “made it” in this beautiful yet rugged land.  Lumber barons, industrial tycoons, and entrepreneurs – all capitalizing on Tacoma’s growth – settled along the hillside overlooking Commencement Bay. By the 1900s, business was good and North End Tacoma homes were big.

Now

Today you can still find these century-old homes throughout the area. The North End has become somewhat of the Queen’s Jewel of Tacoma. Some of the city’s most valuable properties reside here. Easy access to Ruston Way, Point Defiance and Proctor allow for residents to shop and dine-out, and then retreat to their quiet, tree lined neighborhood. Property values have seen a steady increase since the 2000s and the growing demand for real estate is not losing momentum.

Architecture Style

The North End is home to Victorian, Craftsman and mid-Century marvels with northern views and large backyards, some even adjacent to remaining forestland.

Neighborhood Experience

Grab lunch at Rosewood Café and walk down the Puget Park Trail to Ruston Way and back.
