Ruston & Point Ruston
Then
In the 1880s, the city of Tacoma became an industrial leader. Many factories, refineries and shipping companies dotted the outline of Commencement Bay – waiting their turn to profit from the booming lumber and railroad industry. In 1992, the implosion of the ASARCO smokestack led the way for further development along Tacoma’s waterfront.
Now
The construction of the Point Ruston development, the rehabilitation of Peninsula Dune Park and a wave of modern, newly-built homes has transformed Ruston Way into one of the more desirable areas in Tacoma. With northeastern views overlooking the bay, many homes have views of Mt. Rainier (37 miles east) and Mt. Baker (109 miles north). Pointe Ruston entertains with shopping, restaurants and bicycle rentals – amongst other activities.
Architecture Style
While Point Ruston is dominated by major condominium developments, look closely into the hill and you will see a mixture modern new-builds and original Craftsman homes.
Neighborhood Experience
Order an old-fashioned milkshake from the Antique Sandwich Shop and visit Dune Park for exquisite views of Vashon Island and Mt. Rainier.
