Old Town Tacoma

Then

Old Town Tacoma’s center sits at the bottom of 30th Street hill and McCarver Street, named after George McCarver, Tacoma’s original Financier.  In 1873, the McCarver Street Wharf Company built the Old Town Dock, an early pillar in Tacoma’s industrial foundation.  McCarver’s imprint on Tacoma was crucial. His vision to attract settlers – and eventually the Northern Pacific Railroad Company – paved the way for early growth in Tacoma.

Now

Positioned between downtown and North Tacoma, Old Town holds a prime location. With houses sloping to the north, residents enjoy views of Commencement Bay and an easy walk down to Ruston Way. Private schools (Annie Wright School & St. Patrick’s School) and public schools (Lowell Elementary) are all within safe walking distance as well.

Architecture Style

The houses sloping down into Old Town are blended with Modern, Craftsman and even Mediterranean architecture.

Neighborhood Experience

Take home a fresh-caught filet from the Northern Fish Company (est. 1912), located near Old Town dock.
